It Came from the Blog: Day of the Dead gallery

It Came from the Blog got together Monday night for a last minute Day of the Dead Dance Party. We danced, we got dead pets and we traveled to all the old world Horde graveyards.

Paragus and others made some Bread of the Dead for all to share. Rossor (Matthew Rossi) joined us as well for some dancing and tank discussions.

I am still working on the video, but here is a gallery of stills from the dance party:

We'll definitely have a PIlgrim's Bounty event and I'm hoping to fit in a DK Battleground party as well. Join us!

It came from the Blog: Day of the Dead Dance Party

Stop the presses! Hold your Hawkstriders! It came from the Blog is having a last minute Day of the Dead Dance Party tonight! And everyone is invited:
  • Where: Falconwing Square on Zangarmarsh (US) realm
  • When: Midnight EST (10pm Server time, 9pm PST)
  • Who: Any level Horde character
  • How: Ask Robinella or any It came from the Blog Lurker for an invite to the guild
  • What: We'll be making a video of dancing with Catrina and transforming (so don't do the achievement before the rest of us) as well as completing The Grateful Dead quest.
If you have time to log on before the event and make some pocket money, learn cooking and bake some bread, please do. But we'll have extra cash and bread for those who don't. Of course, you'll only be able to complete The Grateful Dead quest outside of Silvermoon if you are a Blood Elf, but we will travel to other graveyards for other races, time permitting. Or you could just make a baby Blood Elf for this event only -- for those of you not dead set against it. (See what I did there?)

Most questions about It came from the Blog are answered in our FAQ. If you have others, please ask in the comments.

Hope to see you there!

It Came from the Blog: Hallow's End and Kodo Run galleries

Last week, the gang from It came from the Blog participated in several Hallow's End activities. We put out the fires in Falconwing Square, pranked Southshore and went Trick or Treating through the Eastern Kingdoms. Levels were dinged (and those that received them were called Dingalings), Achievements were achieved and a dwarf dressed as a troll was rescued.

Here are some screenshots of the fun:

Also, at the beginning of October, It came from the Blog went on an Epic Harvest Brewfestival Ride to honor a hero in Ashenvale. The pictures from this event are long overdue and here they are:

Look for more It Came from the Blog activities in November and throughout the in-game holidays.

Reminder: ICftB Trick or Treat event today

Don't forget to join It came from the Blog for some Hallow's End fun today!
  • When: 4:30pm EDT (2:30pm Server Time, 1:30pm PDT) Today
  • Where: Meet at Falconwing Square on Zangarmarsh (U.S.)
  • Who: Any Horde character, any level. There will also be a second part of the event for epic mounted, flightpathed characters.
  • What: Various Hallow's End activities in the Eastern Kingdoms.
  • How: Ask Robinella or any It came from the Blog Lurker for an invite to the guild.
We will be doing some all level activities for the greater portion of the event and will finish up Trick or Treats in the Eastern Kingdoms with the epic mounted/flightpathed (yes, they will mostly be death knights) players.

Have any questions that are not answered here? Please see our FAQ.

We hope you'll join us!

It came from the Blog: Let's go Trick or Treating!

The Inns of the Eastern Kingdoms are filled with candy, free for the taking. So, obviously, it is time for It came from the Blog to go Trick or Treating. Here are the particulars:
  • When: 4:30pm EDT (2:30pm Server Time, 1:30pm PDT) Saturday, October 24th
  • Where: Meet at Falconwing Square on Zangarmarsh (U.S.)
  • Who: Any Horde character, any level. There will also be a second part of the event for epic mounted, flightpathed characters.
  • What: Various Hallow's End activities in the Eastern Kingdoms.
  • How: Ask Robinella or any It came from the Blog Lurker for an invite to the guild.
The first (and major) part of this event is open to all levels. The second part will consist of finishing up the Eastern Kingdoms Achievement that the Lowbies have a hard time getting to.

All are invited (and encouraged) to attend. If you have any questions like "Why are you Horde biased?" and "When are you coming to my server?", the short answer to both is "We aren't" and the long answers can be found in our FAQ.

We hope you'll join us!

It came from the Blog: Brewfest 2009 recap

We came. We saw. We drank.

Well, actually, most of us just put Synthebrew Goggles on. Elizabeth Harper and Mike Schramm both attended, and we had a lot of fun with those who were able to make it at that late hour. Some Achievements were achieved, some tokens were earned and some quests were completed. I have chronicled the festivities in the gallery below.

Stay tuned for more It came from the Blog events in the near future!

It came from the Blog: Tuesday is Brewfest day

As promised, It came from the Blog will be getting together to celebrate Brewfest. It's going to be late on a weekday night, so make sure you set your DVR to record Sons of Anarchy or whatever you watch on TV on Tuesdays. Also, I'm sorry for you younguns who can't stay up this late on a school night, but we may have another one on Saturday for those who can't make this one.

Here are the details:
  • When: 11:30pm EDT (8:30pm PDT, 9:30pm Server Time) Tuesday, September 29
  • Where: In front of Orgrimmar on Zangarmarsh (U.S.)
  • Who: Any Horde character
  • How: Send a tell to Robinella or any It came from the Blog Lurker to join the guild
While any level is invited to participate, you will have more fun if you have a decent amount of cash on hand. Therefore, you may want to get a Death Knight out of the starting zones or play your lowbie until you've filled your purse in the days before the event..

For those of you who are wondering why Horde, why not your server or any other questions about WoW.com's guild, please see our FAQ.

If you are into virtual public drunkenness, we hope you'll join us for some brew, sausage and ram riding. There are more details after the break.

It came from the Blog: Pirates' Day recap

It came from the Blog celebrated Pirates' Day by running from Orgrimmar to Booty Bay as pirates and then joining Dread Captain DeMeza's crew. Granted, there really isn't much to the in-game holiday, but we had a good time making the most of it. Yar!

Around 110 or so showed up including Allison Robert, C. Christian Moore and Christian Belt. We got in our pirate costumes, ran to Razor Hill, Crossroads and then on to Ratchet. We then took the boat to Booty Bay and got the Achievement. Thanks to our many higher level characters, the lowbies were protected along the journey.

I took a lovely video capturing the 50 or so Tauren Pirates I had on follow only to crash just after getting to Booty Bay. The video is not salvageable, but I may be able to do something with the videos of the beginning and the end... maybe. I was able to get a few screenshots which are in the gallery below.

Thanks to all who joined us and stay tuned for the It came from the Blog Brewfest event announcement coming soon!

Last day for WoW.com discount at SwagDog

Those awesome folks at SwagDog, who sponsor our Guild of the Month Contest, have released a new guild icon shirt design that is much simpler than their original one. Some folks like Alex really like it, and since the man has good taste, chances are you guys just might, too. That's not the only good news, though. The deal is that those guys at SwagDog have given WoW.com readers a sweet 15% discount when ordering one of these babies (the shirt, guys, the shirt). All you have to do is use the promo coupon wowicon15 when you checkout.

The bad news is that that code is just good enough for today, the last day of SwagDog's cool 48-hour WoW.com promo. These shirts are fully customizable, and even though they're supposed to be guild icons, you can actually customize your own design using one of the game's many fun icons. While skulls and crossbones or dragons and axes might be cool, you can just as easily use a crying bear for that kawaii factor. Or a beer mug. It's Brewfest, after all. What're you waiting for? You've only got a few hours left! Get hopping, people!

SwagDog releases new design, limited time WoW.com discount

This past week, SwagDog (sponsor for our Guild of the Month contest) released their newest custom t-shirt design: The Guild Icon shirt. Whereas their Guild Tabard design is a little busy (with your muscled nerd chest being graced with a guild standard of sorts), their new design is more simplistic in comparison. Your guild icon is front and center, laid atop your faction's icon. Your character's name, race, class and server are listed in white at the bottom, and your guild name across the top. If you so choose, it looks like you have the option to leave your guild and character name blank if you really want the icon to pop. The icon itself has a really cool stone texture to it, like it's been carved out. You can check out a close-up sample of that behind the cut below. This is honestly much closer to my ideal guild t-shirt than anything I've seen yet. The simple design just seems better to me.

If you agree, you're in luck! For the next 48 hours, SwagDog and WoW.com are giving you 15% off your purchase if you use the coupon code wowicon15 at checkout. Even if this is something you normally wouldn't wear, you could consider it preparation for BlizzCon 2010. No, they haven't officially announced it, but you just know it's going to happen. Plus, from the picture up above it looks like these shirts have magic powers and put the wearer into a state of rapture and/or nirvana. That's pretty cool. I'd take 15% off of nirvana.

All about our BlizzCon coverage

BlizzCon is upon us today. WoW.com and the Joystiq network are pulling out the stops unlike any year before. There's a total of 15 staffers on the ground during the convention this year, representing the entire Joystiq Network (WoW.com, Joystiq, Massively, and Big Download). We're going to be brining you non-stop coverage throughout the day. And while there could very well be 20 or so posts on WoW.com alone in the next 24 hours, there's only a few places where you need to look to find it all.
  • WoW.com's BlizzCon Guide – Everything that happens about the World of Warcraft at BlizzCon will be listed there. I'll be updating this everytime we get something new in.
  • The Joystiq Network BlizzCon Page – Coverage of everything that's not posted directly on WoW.com: Diablo III, StarCraft II, and any unannounced games that might just be announced.
  • WoW.com's Twitter – Expect to hear lots from myself, Mike, Alex, and the rest of the team. Let us know your questions about the con and we'll try to find you answers!
  • WoW.com's Side Bar – See that nifty "BlizzCon Live Blog Schedule" on WoW.com? That's when our writers will be blogging live the various panels. When the live blogs are happening they'll be the top post on our site, and when they're done you can access them by links that will appear there.
Good times had by all! And don't forget to say hello to anyone wearing a WoW.com shirt. We might just have a surprise for you!
